We’re thrilled to welcome Luis into the Giving Kids Wings fold. He piloted his first flight with us in October, 2022, and soon he will begin glider training!
In his own words:
Hello, my name is Luis R. I am fifteen years old, and I have loved planes ever since my grandpa took me for a ride on his plane to the island of Catalina when I was nine. Since that day, I have always wanted to fly for myself.
The first time I actually did get to pilot an aircraft, I felt such a calm, peaceful feeling, almost as though nothing could bother me. Every other time I have been on a flight I have gotten that same feeling. The beautiful blue sky brings true happiness to my soul. I just love it.
Thanks to my grandpa, I now know what I want to do for the rest of my life. I have such a great passion for one day becoming a commercial pilot and fulfilling my dreams.
As I continue to develop my skills in aviation, I know it will take a lot of dedication. I want to pursue this field and explore the world—not just from the ground, but also from above.
I am grateful for the support that is being extended to me in this lifelong endeavor. I am confident that I will achieve my dream, and I hope that one day I will fly YOU! :)
